Cats arrasa en los Premios Razzies 2020… a lo peor del cine
Los Razzie Awards o Golden Rasperry Awards, también conocidos como el premio Anti-Óscar, revelaron a los ¿ganadores? a los Razzies 2020 que comprenden lo peor del cine del año 2019 en categorías que toman en cuenta películas, actores, directores y guionistas.
La gran “ganadora” de la edición 40 –para sorpresa de nadie– fue Cats, la adaptación del musical de Andre Lloyd Webber, dirigida en pantalla grande por Tom Hooper (Les Misérables, King’s Speech, Danish Girl), que llegaba a la ceremonia –no realizada por el coronavirus– con 8 nominaciones en total.
La gala tenía programado celebrarse el pasado 14 de marzo, sin embargo, fue otro de los eventos masivos cancelados debido a la pandemia por el COVID-19. En lugar de la gala, los organizadores de los Razzies publicaron un video dando a conocer a los ganadores (vía sitio oficial).
Cats se alzó como Peor Película, Peor Actor de Reparto (James Corden), Peor Actriz de Reparto (Rebel Wilson), Peor Guion, Peor Director (Hooper) y Peor Combo en Pantalla.
La secuela Rambo: Last Blood se llevó el Razzie a Peor Secuela y Peor Desprecio Temerario por la Vida Humana y Propiedad Pública. John Travolta fue nombrado el Peor Actor por The Fanatic y Trading Paint, y Hilary Duff la Peor Actriz por The Haunting of Sharon Tate.
Por otro lado, Eddie Murphy recibió el Redeemer Award (premio para redimirse), entregado a un antiguo ganador al Razzie que haya tenido un año excepcional. Murphy lo recibió por su gran interpretación en la biopic Dolemite is My Name de Netflix.
