Judd Apatow (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up) fungió como anfitrión de la ceremonia de tres horas de la edición 76 del Premio DGA 2024 entregado por el Sindicato de los Directores de Estados Unidos (Directors Guild Awards; DGA) a lo mejor del año 2023 en largometraje.
Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer), Celine Song (Past Lives), Christopher Storer (The Bear de FX) y Peter Hoar (The Last of Us de HBO) fueron los grandes ganadores de la presente edición.
- Importante destacar que únicamente 8 de 75 ediciones realizadas por el Sindicato de Directores, el elegido como ganador a mejor director de largometraje, NO ha coincidido con el ganador en dicha categoría en el Premio Óscar.
- Los DGA se consideran un predictor fuerte del Óscar.
Habiendo dicho esto, el triunfo de Nolan continúa afianzando su postura como el gran favorito para ganar el Óscar a mejor director en la ceremonia del Óscar, que se celebrará en vivo el domingo 10 de marzo de 2024. Celine Song se hizo acreedora al premio como mejor primera dirección por su ópera prima, el aclamado drama Past Lives. Song no fue nominada al Óscar a mejor director, aunque la película sí fue nominada a Mejor Película.
El veterano de la televisión, David Nutter, recibió el premio a la trayectoria por su trabajo como director de la pantalla chica. Nutter ha dirigido 24 episodios pilotos, 21 de ellos recibieron orden de convertirse en serie, y más de 1,500 horas de televisión, de ER, a The X-Files, y Game of Thrones.
