‘Freaky’ de Blumhouse anuncia lanzamiento en VOD, Blu-ray y DVD

‘Freaky’ de Christopher Landon, se inspira en la comedia ‘Freaky Friday’ con un giro especial y siniestro.

Luego de debutar en cines en noviembre de 2020 (incluyendo exhibición en salas de cine en México), la comedia de terror slasher ‘Freaky’ de Christopher Landon, fue lanzada en PVOD (Premium Video On Demand) a inicios de diciembre, y ahora, Blumhouse Productions y Universal Pictures oficializan su llegada a formato digital (VOD), así como Blu-ray y DVD.

En VOD debutó el pasado 26 de enero, mientras que en Blu-ray y DVD lo hará el 9 de febrero. Las características especiales, tráiler y póster promocional, los encuentras tras el salto.

Importante recordar que, de estar viviendo en tiempos “normales”, estaríamos a meses de poder hablar de su llegada a formato digital. Sin embargo, los tiempos de pandemia han obligado a los estudios a acelerar el lanzamiento de sus títulos en dicho formato.

Hay que tomar en cuenta que esto también es posible debido al acuerdo histórico de Universal Pictures con dos de las tres cadenas más grandes de cine en los EE.UU., para acortar la ventana de exhibición de sus títulos en pantalla grande y hacerlos llegar en menos tiempo a formato digital.

La premisa de Freaky inspirada en la comedia Freaky Friday con un giro especial, “Se centra en un asesino que desata el caos en una pequeña localidad”:

Después de intercambiar cuerpos con un asesino en serie trastornado, Millie, una joven en la escuela secundaria, descubre que tiene menos de 24 horas antes de que el cambio se vuelva permanente.”

El relato cuenta la historia de una antigua daga mística que hace que el villano y la joven, se despierten en el cuerpo del otro. La chica tiene sólo un día para recuperar su cuerpo antes de que el cambio se vuelva permanente y quede atrapada en la forma de un maníaco de mediana edad para siempre. El único problema es que ahora parece una psicópata imponente que es el objetivo de una persecución en toda la ciudad.

Vince Vaughn (Brawl in Cell Block 99) y Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) protagonizan el relato, mientras que Uriah Shelton (Looking for Alaska), Alan Ruck (Succession), Katie Finneran (Why Women Kill), Celeste O’Connor (Selah and the Spades) y Misha Osherovich (NOS4A2) acompañan en rol secundario.

Landon escribió el guion junto a Michael Kennedy (Bordertown). El proyecto más reciente de Landon, marca una nueva colaboración entre el realizador y Blumhouse Productions, compañía con la que se ha asociado en la saga Paranormal Activity, y las mencionadas entregas de terror slasher Happy Death Day y su secuela.
