Siguiendo los pasos de otras organizaciones de críticos especializados, Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA; por sus siglas en inglés) dio a conocer sus ganadores tras una votación anunciada en vivo a través de su cuenta oficial en Twitter este 3 de diciembre.
El honor a Mejor Película se lo llevó Call Me by Your Name, repitiendo lo logrado en los Gotham Awards, entregados el pasado 27 de noviembre.
Por su parte, Guillermo del Toro y Luca Guadagnino empataron como Mejor Director, por The Shape of Water y la mencionada, Call Me by Your Name, respectivamente. De esta última, emergió el Mejor Actor de la noche, Timothée Chalamet, mientras que Sally Hawkins fue nombrada Mejor Actriz, por la cinta dirigida por el mexicano del Toro.
La Asociación de Críticos de Film de Los Ángeles, está conformada tanto por críticos de medios impresos como medios digitales. La película ganadora en la edición pasada fue Moonlight, que posteriormente se coronaría en el Premio Óscar. En esa ocasión, su director, Barry Jenkins se alzó como Mejor Director, en el Óscar sin embargo, dicha presea fue para Damien Chazelle por La La Land.
