La Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (AMPAS) ha anunciado las listas cortas en 10 categorías para la 96ª ceremonia de los Óscar, mientras que los nominados finalistas se darán a conocer el 23 de enero de 2024.
En general, Barbie de Greta Gerwig tuvo la mayor cantidad de menciones con cinco incluyendo sonido y canción original para sus tres candidatas de Billie Eilish (“What I Was Made For?”), Dua Lipa (“Dance the Night”) y Mark. Ronson y Andrew Wyatt (“I'm Just Ken”), y música original, de Ronson y Wyatt. El gran error de Barbie fue en maquillaje y peluquería, que fue la categoría con más sorpresas.
En las categorías de música hay composiciones de Daniel Pemberton (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”), Ludwig Göransson (“Oppenheimer”) y el fallecido Robbie Robertson (“Killers of the Flower Moon”). También hicieron la lista corta en dicha categoría, veteranos de la talla de Thomas Newman (“Elemental”) y John Williams (“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”).
Killers of the Flower Moon logró 4 menciones en las listas cortas, incluyendo mejor canción original.
Godzilla Minus One, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, y Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, The Creator, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, están incluidas en la lista corta en la categoría de Mejores Efectos Visuales.
La categoría de Mejor Película Internacional se conforma por las cintas que se venían perfilando desde hace un tiempo, incluyendo Io Capitano de Italia, Tótem de México, The Zone of Interest de Reino Unido, Sociedad de la nieve de España, entre otras. Candidatas importantes como el caso de Los colonos de Chile, y Nu astepta prea mult de la sfârsitul lumii de Rumania, quedaron fuera de la lista corta.
El periodo de nominaciones finales para los Óscars, se llevarán a cabo del 11 al 16 de enero de 2024. Las nominaciones se darán a conocer el 23 de enero. La gala se realizará el 10 de marzo de 2024.
