La Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (AMPAS) reveló a los nominados de sus 23 categorías correspondientes a la edición 94 la mañana de este martes 8 de febrero, a lo más destacado en cine del año 2021, con The Power of the Dog de Jane Campion liderando las nominaciones con 12 candidaturas.
El drama de Netflix recibió nominaciones incluyendo a Mejor Película, Director (Campion), Actor en Rol Protagónico (Benedict Cumberbatch), Actriz en Rol de Reparto (Kirsten Dunst), y doble nominación en Actor en Rol de Reparto (Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee). Dune de Denis Villeneuve le sigue con 10 nominaciones, incluyendo Mejor Película, aunque sin nominaciones a Villeneuve, y al elenco. West Side Story y Belfast recibieron 7 nominaciones, mientras que King Richard logró 6 nominaciones.
Nightmare Alley de Guillermo del Toro obtuvo 4 nominaciones, incluyendo Mejor Película, y el resto en categorías técnicas.
El Premio Óscar 2022 se entregará el domingo 27 de marzo de 2022, con transmisión en vivo a través de ABC en Estados Unidos, y TNT en México y Latinoamérica. El Premio de la Academia aún no selecciona a un anfitrión para la ceremonia.
