La noche más esperada del mundo del cine ya está aquí. Este domingo 25 de abril se hará la entrega de la edición 93 del Premio Óscar, de la que ha sido la temporada más larga en la historia del galardón.
Mank de David Fincher lidera las nominaciones con 10 candidaturas, incluyendo Mejor Película y Director, seguida de The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal y The Trial of the Chicago 7 con 6 nominaciones para cada una; Promising Young Woman recibió 5 nominaciones.
La pandemia por el coronavirus marcó lo que ha sido una temporada de premios 2020-21 sin precedentes; usualmente el Premio Óscar se entrega a fines del mes de febrero, sin embargo, en esta ocasión tuvo que posponer su ceremonia habitual hasta fines de abril, extendiendo además, el periodo de elegibilidad que terminaba en diciembre para terminar en febrero. Esto quiere decir que el periodo de elegibilidad comprende filmes lanzados entre el 1 de enero de 2020 al 28 de febrero de 2021. A esto también sumamos que por primera ocasión se permitió incluir películas originalmente pactadas para tener estreno en cines que terminaron por debutar en servicios de streaming y/o plataformas VOD.
Los intérpretes de las canciones nominadas a Canción Original grabaron su actuación previo al día de los Óscars, para ser emitida durante el preshow. El preshow estará comenzando en punto de las 2:50 pm (hora del centro de México).
Los ganadores serán anunciados en la gala que será transmitida en vivo a través de ABC en los Estados Unidos, Canal TNT Latinoamérica y TNT Series para México y resto de Latinoamérica, asimismo en señal abierta de Azteca Siete para México.
