La mañana de este miércoles 21 de diciembre de 2022, la Academia de las Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (AMPAS), organismo encargado de los Premios Óscar, reveló la lista corta de diez categorías de los Óscars 2023, incluyendo documental, película internacional, maquillaje y peinado, banda sonora original, canción original, corto animado, corto live-action, sonido, efectos visuales, y documental corto.
15 películas internacionales dieron un paso al frente, de las 92 películas elegibles enviadas por sus respectivos países, incluyendo Close (Bélgica), Bardo (México), Decision to Leave (Corea del Sur), All Quiet on the Western Front (Alemania), y Joyland, que marca la primera vez que Pakistán está en la lista corta de dicha categoría.
De los 144 documentales elegibles, nos quedamos con 15 que avanzan a la siguiente etapa, incluyendo All That Breathes, Fire of Love, y Moonage Daydream. Entre las omisiones que más sorpresa causaron se encuentran Good Night Oppy.
15 bandas sonoras originales avanzan de las 147 elegibles, incluyendo a John Williams (The Fablemans), con Williams como la persona viva con más nominaciones al Óscar (53), Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Hildur Gudnadóttir (Women Talking), y Alexandre Desplat (por Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio).
En la categoría a canción original, entre las 15 que avanzan a la siguiente ronda se encuentran Hold My Hand de Lady Gaga (Top Gun: Maverick), Lift Me Up de Rihanna (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Carolina de Taylor Swift (Where the Crawdads Sing), y My Mind & Me de Selena Gomez (Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me).
Las votaciones para las nominaciones al Óscar iniciarán el 12 de enero de 2023, y cerrarán el día 17. Las nominaciones se anunciarán en vivo el 24 del mismo mes, y la ceremonia se llevará a cabo el 12 de marzo.
