Acaba de concluir la prestigiosa entrega de la edición 75 del Premio BAFTA (Academia Británica de las Artes Cinematográficas y de la Televisión (British Academy Film Awards; BAFTA, la ceremonia de premiación más relevante en la industria del cine y la televisión de Reino Unido, con The Power of the Dog de Jane Campion, emergiendo como la ganadora de las preseas a Mejor Película, y Mejor Dirección.
Dune de Denis Villeneuve, fue la más ganadora de la gala, llevándose a casa 5 BAFTAs en categorías técnicas como: Mejor Fotografía, Mejores Efectos Visuales, Mejor Sonido, Mejor Banda Sonora, y Mejor Diseño de Producción.
- The Power of the Dog llegaba como la segunda película más nominada de la presente edición, con 8 candidaturas, con Dune de Denis Villeneuve como la más nominada con 11.
- Campion y su filme, continúan perfilándose como las favoritas de cara al Óscar, cuya ceremonia se celebrará el domingo 27 de marzo de 2022.
- Más de 7000 miembros votaron por el BAFTA 2022.
- La ceremonia tuvo cita en el icónico Royal Albert Hall de Londres, con Rebel Wilson como anfitriona.
En las categorías actorales, Will Smith (King Richard), y Joanna Scanlan (After Love), fueron nombrados el mejor actor y actriz en rol protagónico respectivamente. Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), y Troy Katsur (CODA), resultaron los ganadores en las categorías actorales en roles secundarios.
