Al término de los Spirit Awards el mismo domingo 25 de febrero, se entregó la edición 35 de los PGA Awards 2024, premios del Sindicato de los Productores (PGA; Producers Guild of America) que anualmente reconocen a los productores más destacados en producciones de cine y de televisión. el día anterior, sábado 24, se entregaron los SAG Awards del Sindicato de Actores, por lo que fue un fin de semana repleto de ceremonias de premiación.
OJO AL DATO: Desde la fundación del PGA, la categoría llamada Darryl F. Zanuck Award al Mejor Productor de Películas para Cine, el premio más grande de la ceremonia, ha sido históricamente un fuerte indicador del ganador a Mejor Película en el Óscar. 15 de los últimos 20 ganadores del PGA han alzado la estatuilla dorada a mejor película. (The Big Short, La La Land, y 1917, han sido tres de las que no han repetido como ganadoras en el Óscar).
Las nominadas al Darryl F. Zanuck Award 2024 fueron American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives,Poor Things, y Zone of Interest.
Oppenheimer fue elegida como la ganadora en los premios del Sindicato de los Productores, afianzando su lugar como clara favorita de cara al Óscar 2024, que se entregará el domingo 10 de marzo.
American Symphony ganó el PGA Award a mejor documental; mientras que Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse alzó el galardón en la categoría de película animada.
En el rubro televisivo, Succession, The Bear, Beef, ganaron en las categorías de drama, comedia, y serie limitada o de antología, respectivamente, mientras que la docuserie Beckham, ganó en la categoría de programa deportivo.
Por último, Martin Scorsese recibió el David O. Selznick Achievement Award, y Charles D. King recibió el Milestone Award.
