La gala de los Spirit Awards 2023 a lo mejor del cine y la televisión independiente, se dio cita el sábado 04 de marzo de 2023 desde Santa Mónica, CA., para celebrar la edición 38 de los Film Independent Spirit Awards.
ALGUNOS DATOS:
- Este año marca la primera vez en la historia de Film Independent, en que las categorías actorales cambiaron a género neutro, tal como sucedió en los Gotham Awards.
- Para ser elegible a los FISA, el filme debe tener un presupuesto de hasta $30 millones de dólares (aumentando el costo de años anteriores de $22.7 mdd).
La más nominada de la noche, Everything Everywhere All At Once se coronó como la más ganadora de la edición 38, ganando las siete categorías en las que estaba nominada, incluyendo Mejor Película, y Dirección, y 7 de sus 8 nominaciones (Jamie Lee Curtis y Ke Huy Quan estaban nominados en la misma categoría a mejor actuación de reparto, ganándola este último). La película además tuvo los triunfos de Michelle Yeoh a mejor actuación en rol protagónico, Stephanie Hsu como mejor actuación revelación, Mejor Guion, y Mejor Edición.
La segunda más nominada, TÁR, se quedó únicamente con el premio a Mejor Fotografía; Aftersun ganó mejor ópera prima; Emily the Criminal a mejor guion debut, entre otros.
En el rubro televisivo, Quinta Brunson y Ayo Edebiri ganaron las categorías actorales (protagónico y de reparto, respectivamente), la sensación The Bear ganó mejor serie nueva guionizada, y The Rehearsal mejor serie nueva no guionizada o documental.
