La tarde de este domingo 20 de marzo, el Sindicato de Guionistas (Writers Guild of America, WGA) reveló a todos los ganadores del Premios WGA a lo más destacado de guion del año 2021 en sus categorías de cine (Guion Original, Guion Adaptado y Guion de Documental), y televisión (drama, comedia, nueva, original formato largo, adaptada formato largo, etc).
La edición 74 eligió a Don’t Look Up de Adam McKay, y CODA de Sian Heder, como las ganadoras del Premio WGA a Mejor Guion Original, y Guion Adaptado, respectivamente. CODA cierra así un gran fin de semana, pues además de haberse ganado el WGA, se llevó a casa la noche del sábado el Premio PGA del Sindicato de los Productores.
En el rubro televisivo, HBO continúa arrasando con series como, Succession, que cierra un gran año siendo elegida como la mejor de la categoría de serie de drama, mientras que Hacks se lleva las categorías comedia y serie nueva, y Mare of Easttown hace lo propio en serie original en formato largo.
ALGUNOS DATOS:
- No es indispensable ser nominado a los WGA Awards para aterrizar una nominación/triunfo al Óscar.
- Muchas películas ganadoras del Óscar lo han logrado sin obtener nominación/premio WGA.
- Las ausencias más notables de la edición 74, incluyen a The Power of the Dog de Jane Campion, The Lost Daughter de Maggie Gyllenhaal, yPassing de Rebecca Hall, todas ilegibles para la edición de 2022.
- La entrega del WGA Award 2022, es la última gala de premiación previo al Óscar 2022, que culminará la temporada de premios 2021-22, el próximo domingo 27 de marzo, con transmisión en vivo a través de ABC en los Estados Unidos, TNTLA en México y resto de Latinoamérica, además de TV Azteca en transmisión abierta en México.
